The very first step in transforming your body is to SEE IT - imagine putting on the outfit that hasn't fit quite right in a while, or maybe your skinny jeans. Then FEEL IT - let yourself become overwhelmed with the joy and pride you'll feel when you've met your goals...yes, feel it now, in this moment. Then, after the work is done you will undoubtedly BE IT.

5/12/2010 - Your Personal Trainer says.....

In addition to hard work and intense training you need to focus on one very important thing: Consistency. Stay on your workout schedule, no matter what. There will always be distractions and we know life can be crazy at times but exercise can never take a back seat to everything else. If you let it happen now you'll most likely always let it happen well into the future. Make a new habit to exercise and promise yourself you'll stick to it, no matter what. Do this and you will absolutely get results.

Remember that timing plays a big role in weight loss. Eating certain types of food when your body needs them the most will always help the weight loss process. Eat right to jack your metabolism.

Alright, awesome job by everyone last month. Everyone was able to stay on track and make measurable progress (no surprise there) but the past two months were extra special because many of you set year-end goals that you were driven to meet by the end of 2009. YOU DID IT!

12/5/2009 - Ya made us proud!!

November was a spectacular month for so many reasons. First off everyone who trained with L9 last month stop whatever you're doing and pat yourself on the back. All of you who put in the work got all the results you wanted and more! Myself (JM) and Reed we're blown away everyone's ability to stay focused and keep pushing forward. Eye on the prize.

Steven - where do I begin... over the past two months Steven has lost body fat, built muscle and he's seen amazing changes in his body overall. His body is stronger, more functional and far more flexible that he ever thought possible.

Colette - last report was a loss of 10 pounds, well now it's 24! That's right, Colette has now lost 24 pounds while still adding lean muscle to her body. Way to go girl!

Melanie - congrats for tearing it up. It's no wonder your friends were noticing the changes in your physique, almost over night!

Deborah - she's getting compliments about her new set of hot legs (even from strangers), and her toned arms. She's watching her ab section flatten out fast. Keep it up!

11/5/2009 - Reflections - Looking Back on October

Last month so many of you made me proud...but not surprised! As I look back on October I remember the excitement so many of you had about your newest goals. We made plans to accomplish those goals and BOOM! we did it together. We're a team. We show up and do what we have to do to win. We share our victories and immediately plan for the next challenge. -JM

Deborah - Stayed focused all month long. Trained as often as possible, despite the fact that she was working 14 hour days in LA. Deborah lives and trains by the motto "No Excuses!"  Let's all take a page out of her book. And her body is so much tighter, firmer and more defined than it was just 30 short days ago.

Mitra - Dropped 10 lbs!!! BOOM! Need I say more?

Holly - Despite her bi-coastal travels last month she trained hard whenever she was in Long Beach. Through personal training with me (JM) and good clean eating Holly is showing new definition and she's becoming more sculpted from top to bottom.

Colette - Has now lost over 20lbs!!!

11/1/2009 - Numbers

This is a quick reminder to our newest clients:  Remember to weigh yourself only once per week. As you lose body fat and gain muscle your weight will fluctuate, especially in the beginning of this process. Plus, as you all know, muscle weighs more than fat. So relax, with continued hard work and a clear vision of your goals you'll get to your target weight, and more importantly your target shape in no time!

10/5/2009 - SUPERSTARS! Another Spectacular Month!

Last month was AWESOME!!!  Congratulations to everyone who made significant improvements over the past 30 days.  I’m so proud of all of you.  Keep it up!  If any of you aren’t seeing results as quickly as you’d like I’m willing to bet everything that it’s a nutrition issue…let’s fix it!  As you all know, I reward dedication so if anyone still needs to schedule extra sessions in October show me what ya got, prove to me that you’ll stay on track with workouts and your Choices meal plan and I’ll fit you in, no matter what it takes!!!!  After all, it’s my job to help you achieve mind blowing results! -JM

Speaking of mind blowing results…..

September Superstars who went above and beyond their monthly goals:

Nicki – OMG! Nicki is doing awesome!  Just past 30 days in the program and she seriously looks like a different girl from head to toe, even her face is thinner!  Nicki shows up ready to train hard every single session and she will not give up.  This is exactly why she’s leaner, stronger and even more energized through her long work days.  Nicki is working hard to keep her nutrition on track and she’s doing a great job of it.  TEAR IT UUUUUP!!!

Marina – She meant every word she said when she signed up with me.  “I’ll do whatever it takes coach”… well, she’s doing it, that’s for sure!  1st 30 days in the program and we’re seeing amazing changes in her whole body.  Leaner from top to bottom, stronger legs, more toned arms, flatter abs, firmer butt, better flexibility, major core strength improvements.  Aside from an occasional pre-planned cheat meal and a cocktail she’s eating perfectly!

Leanne – kicked it up a notch, yet again, and moved into a new phase of training.  I’m blown away by Leanne’s most recent improvements in strength, stamina, balance…. Oh yeah and she’s already dropped over 20 lbs since the beginning of her program 3 months ago.  She’s got a whole new body, plain and simple.  Looking good in your skinny jeans girl!  Leanne continues to eat well too, she’s doing whatever it takes to succeed…BOOM!

Colette – 13 lbs lighter so far, 6 inches off the waist, she has a leaner body and she’s seen huge improvements in total body strength (especially the core).  Per our conversation today… “Everything is tight and firm now”  And that’s just what has happened so far!  Size 4 is getting closer by the day Colette!

Mitra – totally committed to exercising with me twice per week and eating right.  I can already see that body fat is melting away.  She’s already stronger too, no doubt about it.  Mitra also exercises on her own when she has time and her efforts are definitely paying off BIG TIME.

For anyone who's not yet training with L9 here's a suggestion: Make a list of short term goals you'd like to accomplish in the near future. Breaking your long term goal into a bunch of small ones will help make the process of getting in shape much more manageable and less of a scary endeaver. 4/23/2009 - No time for breakfast?

As most of you know, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Skipping breakfast is a bad idea. If you're pressed for time in the morning here's a great way to give your body a healthy jump start without going to the trouble of preparing a meal.

Whey Protein Smoothie with fruit and oats: Load the blender with 2 scoops of your favorite whey protein powder, add 1/3 cup of a fruit (fresh or frozen) that works well with your protein flavor, add 1/4 cup dry oatmeal. Then add 3 ounces of water and a handfull of ice, plus 6 ounces of almond milk, soy milk or skim milk .

Blend it, put it in a to-go cup and head out the door. Total prep time: about 6 minutes

4/10/2009 - The weekend is almost here.....

The weekend is almost here and you all know what that means - an extra helping of food and drink temptations. Stay strong and plan ahead. I know that some of you have planned your 'cheat day' on the weekend, smart move, you're in the clear for a little indulgence. Everyone else - remember that most restaurants offer healthy menu options so there's no excuse to go wild if you go out for dinner and drinks. On the subject of drinks: as always, one or two of almost anything won't hit the waistline too hard but avoid beer. Vodka/cranberry or some wine is a much better bet.

4/6/2009 - Jed has a prime time slot opening!

Jed will soon have an opening at 4:30pm in Long Beach up to three weekdays per week. This is a prime time slot and will be filled quickly. Jed also has a lunch time opening (12:00 noon) on Mondays and Wednesdays. Contact us if you're interested in any of these time slots.
